If you are interested in Phlox, see our new pages on Phlox species and cultivars

We are the breeders and selectors of the Primrose Path line of perennials. Our interests have been primarily in heuchera, tiarella, and heucherella, but over the past two decades we have also introduced new varieties of primula, phlox, aster, sedum, and other genera into the trade. (List). Our patented varieties are propagated by licensed producers in North America, Europe, and other parts of the world.

Our introductions are some of the best cultivars in these genera. Our new heuchera combine brightly patterned leaves with large, showy flowers, good growth proportions for attractive pot presentation, and superior winter survival in the northeast and midwest US. They should replace the old fashioned hybrids that have good foliage but ungainly stems of insignificant flowers. Read more about the sales advantages of these plants.

BUY OUR BOOK

Our book about heuchera, heucherella, and tiarella is still available. In it we describe the varieties that gardeners are likely to find for sale at nurseries and give a list of the cultivars that we think will perform best. We cover the range of heucheras from ones for the perennial border to those for naturalizing or growing in troughs with alpines, and we also describe and critique heucherellas and tiarellas. The related mitellas and tellima are included, too. Other chapters are on the history of breeding work with these plants and on how the traits of the wild species came to be combined as they are in the modern hybrids. There are many color photos.
